Venue on Washington | Phoenix, Arizona
February 22, 2020
They say rain on your wedding day is good luck, right? That’s exactly what it was for Julie and Karl. A week before their wedding, the forecast showed heavy rainfall and their wedding was supposed to be held at an all outdoor site. Luckily, Venue on Washington saved the day and they were able to move their wedding! Planner Maddy was right alongside Julie and Karl to help support them and attend to all the concerns that needed to be done for the quick location change. Since the space was different from their original venue, we modified their design to make sure their vision was similar to their original one. Julie wanted to bring as much greenery as she could inside the venue. Allison, from Array Design, created the most beautiful floral installation that hung from the ceiling. Along with that, she placed greenery everywhere! There were long, lush garlands on the wooden farm tables, and beautiful floral arrangements on the round guest tables.
Before the ceremony started, guests were offered signature cocktails named after Julie and Karl’s cute little dog, Nori! The drink was a yummy prickly pear margarita, which was the couple’s favorite.
Julie is from a big family and it was extremely important for her to have everyone there. The dance floor was packed all night, and you could really see everyone’s love for the couple. Her family absolutely loved coffee and hot chocolate, so she made sure there was a table set aside just for that! It had all the toppings you could imagine and more. This was the perfect addition to the day to go along with the weather!
To top off the evening Julie surprised her mom with a dance. After the father/daughter dance, Julie called her mom up on the dance floor to share a dance with her. They danced to, “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder. Her mom was SO surprised!
Their planner, Maddy, remembers, “As a bride, switching venues 3 days before your wedding is extremely stressful. I loved seeing how Karl was so supportive of Julie and comforting. On their wedding day, he held her dress and bouquet, which was so sweet to see! These small moments are one of the many reasons I love being a wedding planner. I’m so thankful that my couples trust me enough, rain or shine, to handle all their wedding day stress, so they can sit back and enjoy their day!”
The weather forecast was right when it predicted heavy showers, there were definitely showers of love and laughter. Julie and Karl put aside their worries and focused on each other. They remembered that at the end of the day, all that mattered is that they got to marry the person of their dreams!
