Today’s YJ wedding is about Amanda & Matt! They met in 2016, when Amanda had just moved to Dallas for her job. Matt had been living in Dallas for a couple of years and had established a good group of friends. During the summer of 2016, one of Matt’s friends threw a birthday party for his roommate, which Amanda ended up going to.
Matt and Amanda’s paths crossed again months later when their mutual friend was moving away and had one last night out on the town. As fate would have it, Matt spotted Amanda at the same bar and went over to ask for her number. And that’s where it all began!
Amanda remembers, “He took me on our date at a nearby Italian spot, where he picked out the finest wine and I was overwhelmed by the complicated menu (can’t a girl just get pepperoni pizza!?). That date was followed by countless others where Matt rolled out the red carpet* to win me over – and it worked!” At a Cowboys game in September, they made their relationship official. Then two years later, Matt proposed on the beach at Amanda’s favorite hotel in San Diego.
Amanda & Matt decided to get married at The Paseo in Apache Junction, AZ because of the breathtaking Superstition Mountain backdrop. Since they live in Dallas, they knew they wanted a venue with mountains. The blank space that The Paseo offers gave them the perfect opportunity to create the romantic, classic feel they wanted. They wanted to keep the decor simple, and really focus on the beauty of the mountainous backdrop.
Their wedding day began with a pop of champagne, matching floral pajamas, and glam. Amanda had two of her sorority sisters join her on her day as bridesmaids so naturally they had to take a picture throwing up the Delta Gamma hand sign! Amanda & Matt also paid homage to their college days and rivalry through their signature drinks at cocktail hour.
To incorporate the love stories from their family into their special day, a table donned with photos from the weddings of parents and grandparents on both Amanda & Matt’s side of the family. Amanda & Matt decided to capture moments from their reception with a photo booth bus!
Their wedding planner, Kayle, said “I loved the sage green couch, escort card display, & their cake was beautiful! Plus the twinkle lights & greenery chandelier!”
A vintage white mustang complete with a “Just Married” sign was Amanda and Matt’s getaway car of choice to end the night and start their happily ever after together!
