Today we are with one of our favorite fellow planners, Jessica Mitschele with Modern Grace Events! If you are newly engaged or just love hearing about weddings, listen up because we are talking about all things wedding related this episode!
MODERN GRACE
Modern Grace has been a company for two years, but they have been planning in the industry for 4. Jessica has always been bouncing around jobs and loved trying new things while Ashlee always had a 9-5. Jessica was working for a bridal shop and interning for a wedding magazine and kept gravitating towards weddings and brides. While Jessica was out with Ashlee, they began talking about the possibility of opening a planning company. After a ton of research and support, they jumped in and never looked back!
Just starting out, they had to do a lot of networking to understand both the industry and the people that were in it. Jessica says networking was hard for her as she was familiar with the sales side of business and how to close, but building relationships with vendors was completely different from what she was used to!
She is hoping that the future of Modern Grace holds some destination weddings and even luxury weddings to see if that is something she wants to do. They really gravitate towards the couples that want to celebrate to the best of their ability and have that family and guests to support them. She loves clients who don’t feel like they need to follow each tradition and those who truly want to make it their own.

BEING A WEDDING PLANNER
When asked about favorite memories from wedding planning, Jessica says on their second wedding, the bride came straight to her crying tears of joy right after she walked back down the aisle with her husband after saying their “I dos.” The bride told Jessica how grateful she was and Jessica knew in that moment, this was what she was meant to do. Her worst memory would be a best man’s speech, he used the speech to tell all the women at the wedding that he was single and ready to party all night with them! She was cringing and was so happy when it finally ended!
Jessica also recently got married, she jokes that she is not her client! She had different expectations than most brides and realized how stressful the guests can make a wedding! It gave her a completely new perspective on weddings because she wanted to make sure every single client experiences the love she felt on her wedding day!
TRENDS AND ADVICE
When talking about upcoming trends, Jessica thinks that “minis” are on the rise. She loves seeing mini foods such as mini cupcakes, mini sliders, and mini pies. Having small bites allows for guests to have varieties and think it’s a cute play on a mini “dessert” bar!
Jessica has great advice for couples getting married who don’t have a wedding planner, Jessica says she highly recommends using as many resources as possible to make sure it’s a stress-free day and to also think about each individual step and what goes into it.
