Episode 70: Using an Eye for Creativity in Wedding Photography with Aaron Kes

In today’s episode, we get to talk to Aaron Kes, of Aaron Kes Photography. Aaron is one of our good friends from the wedding industry. He’s a phenomenal photographer and we always love getting to work with him! He lives in Phoenix with his wife and dog (who we love keeping up with on social media!).

One reason why couples love him is because of his laid back personality, which makes him very easy to work with. Although he is laid back, he is serious about creating amazing work and making clients happy. 

Aaron is a completely self taught photographer.  While his profession started from his background in film.  The only class he has taken for photography was a base level photography class in college to fulfill his major.  Aaron is able to practice his skill alone and loved being able to consistently learn about photography.

One thing that we love about Aaron is his ability to be creative with his wedding images.  If you look at any of his wedding portfolios, you can see his eye for finding creative ways to represent the couple and finding unique portraits at any venue.  They are constantly evolving too!

Aaron believes in giving back and leaving the world, and specifically your community, a better place. For the last seven years, Aaron has volunteered running a non-profit that educates and connects local filmmakers called IFP Phoenix. On top of that, 1% of every dollar that comes into his photography business goes to St. Mary’s Food Bank. Last year this contribution, plus his wife’s company’s generous match, meant they provided 10,850 meals to the community in need!

We loved hearing about Aaron’s journey into wedding photography.  Starting in school for film and only taking a single photography class, he was asked to shoot his friend’s wedding.  He did some wedding photography here and there during film school and after graduation stayed in AZ and continued his still photography ever since!  While he still volunteers for IFP Phoenix and works with Arizona Film Festival, you can see him many weekends capturing the love of incredible Arizona couples!
