What better way to bring in the new year then collaborating with amazing vendors to create a tribal wedding themed photo shoot! When we met Jamie from The Mesa Arts Center and saw the beautiful property, we knew we had to create a unique shoot for her. The MAC has so many great courtyards, balconies, and even a stage you can host your event on. With beautiful colors, cement walls, and Arizona greenery throughout the space, the photo opportunities are endless. Back in January we were able to create the tribal wedding of our dreams while using The Mesa Arts Center as our back drop.
We set the ceremony space on the terrace over looking the center at the South side of the property. This space is unique because you can set the ceremony at a few different angles depending on what back drop you want for you and your guest. We loved the palm trees and the contrast of the building so we decided to set our tribal shoot facing the main building.
To create the alter we used wooden slats that we spray painted bronze and made a large dream catcher that hung from the main wooden structure. Butterfly Petals brought in her beautiful cactus spines and adorned them with roses, feathers, and air plants that matched our theme.
The white cushioned ceremony seats that The Mesa Arts Center offers in there bridal packages were set around a very unique aisle way. We created a tribal design out of chalk as the main focal point and used colorful vases to line the aisle way. Instead of using flowers we filled the vases with feathers for a unique tribal look. Instead of petals, our flower girl sprinkled feathers down the aisle.
One of the many gorgeous spaces around the property is set between the trees at the entrance to the building. The bridal portraits were done with the cacti and turquoise walls behind to create a contrast between the bride and groom to get a full Arizona style feel.
Our beautiful bridesmaids brought the tribal 70’s inspired look with there Alfred Angelo jumpsuits- yes we said jumpsuits, Flash Tattoos, Brooch Coach headpieces, All The Tiny Pieces jewelry, and amazing clutches from Madalyn Nault Accessories (that would make the perfect bridesmaid gift!). The handsome groomsmen wore suits from Nicks Menswear. If you are looking for a suit for any event we highly recommend them! Josh & Julia were amazing to work with and were so helpful with this shoot. For the reception they changed into bolo ties (the official neckwear of Arizona) for a more casual look.
The reception was held in a downstairs space at the center that is a wonderfully shaded space next to a tall, golden brick fountain that we placed our dessert bar in front of. The wall created amazing contrast for the desserts provided by Gigi’s Cupcakes. They were able to decorate macaroons, cupcakes, and the cake with feathers and dream catchers which matched our theme perfectly! It was hard not to eat each item before the shoot was over!
We created a cozy space for the bride and groom and even the kids to play in with a tee pee off the side of the reception. This item and the dessert stand was created by the very talented Valerie Juarez.
The head table and the guest tables were decorated with terra cotta pots and chargers, antlers, taupe dishes and linens from Butterfly Petals and Event Rents. The head table has a fur runner to bring extra contrast and detail. Each seat had a placard- made to match the invitation suite by Foil and Ink, with a golden horse next to each name. We wanted to bring the feather decor throughout the reception as well and used the colorful feather vases throughout the reception space and tablescapes.
The final shot of the night is one of our favorites of the entire bridal party with the concrete planter behind them. We love the use of all of the unique textures at this venue!
Whatever style event you envision The Mesa Arts Center has a space that can work for you! Thank you to everyone for their time and hard work!
