Tis’ the season for holiday shopping, peppermint mochas, chocolate indulging, and ugly sweater parties with friends and family. It is also a time where hundreds of families cannot afford these luxuries. Families all throughout Arizona worry about how they will provide a Christmas gift for their children. We believe every child deserves to wake up Christmas morning with light and joy in their eyes when they see gifts under their tree. This is why this year we decided to shop and donate to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Angel Tree Program.
Every year these trees pop up in all local malls with tags of names of hundreds of Arizona children. This year they have the trees separated into age groups so it is easy to look through and pick a child you can easily shop for. They also have shopping guides printed so you know where the various stores are in the mall for shopping ease, most malls even have pop up Toys R’ Us express or kiosk to help accommodate the Christmas Angel needs.

For us we decided to go with what we know, a 5 year old girl who loved Barbie and music! This left us with lots to choose from, but we knew we were on the look out for a rock in roll Barbie. Luckily enough our mall did have an Toys R’ Us Express and we were able to find just that! A rock in roll Barbie complete with blue highlighted hair, accompanied by a changing outfit. We also got her a guitar playing Barbie, because every rockstar needs some backup, and a Barbie musical instrument play set complete with maracas and a tambourine! This girls parents may hate us by the time she is done playing!
This gift may seem small but we hope it lights up this little girls Christmas morning. We had so much fun picking out the right Barbie in the bright pink Barbie aisle and re-living our childhood memories with these awesome toys!
We encourage you to take the time during your holiday shopping to pick up a Christmas Angel tag and buy a child in need a special gift they may not otherwise have. After all, it is the season of giving, and it is so much greater to give then to receive!
