Hey again friends!
As a bride-to-be myself, I have been learning all the ins and outs of the pre-wedding day celebrations.
Most recently, my bridesmaids and mom have been all abuzz about throwing me a bridal shower!
If you’ve been tasked with planning a bridal shower for a friend or family member, congratulations! Planning the bridal shower is an important responsibility and a great honor (and also super fun!). If you’re excited to be a part of the process, but aren’t sure where to start, look no further! Here are a few tips for hosting the perfect shower for your beautiful bride.
So what is a bridal shower?
Good question! Glad you asked. As brides.com explains it, “A bridal shower is a pre-wedding celebration in honor of the bride that traditionally is an opportunity for guests to give her gifts to help set up her new home.” So basically, it’s a perfect opportunity to gather all the ladies together to celebrate the bride and partayyyyyy! The event usually involves some sort of food or appetizers, gift-giving, and bridal games, and is held sometime between three months to two weeks before the wedding itself.
What should I do to get started?
As much fun as the planning will be, coordinating it can also be a lot of work! There are so many decisions to be made when it comes to planning any event, so sometimes it can be helpful to tag-team the process with another bridesmaid or female family member who will also be attending. Assemble your go-to team of powerhouse ladies and get to work!
My suggestion is to start the process by choosing a theme. Every party needs an awesome theme, right?! The theme can help create the mood for the event and help decide food choices, the venue, decor, music, and entertainment. If you need a few ideas to get your creative side up and running, check out these mood boards I put together for a few of my personal favorite bridal shower themes!
Moroccan Oasis Boho
Is your bride all about the boho? Then this one’s for her! Start with a neutral overall color scheme, and add accents of magentas, deep green florals, and bronze gold. This Moroccan Oasis Boho theme is perfect for a bride who would love a sophisticated and gorgeous event. Extra points if you can score a camel petting zoo!! 😉
Bright and Colorful Fiesta
Looking for something a little more bright and colorful? Throw a vibrant fiesta! This one is all about those bright hues to create an energetic, cheerful atmosphere. Might I suggest a build-your-own margarita bar and some catered tacos? Throw in a piñata and you’ll be set for an afternoon with the girls that the bride will never forget!
Modern Tropical
Having a summer bridal shower? This theme would be just right for a sunny summer’s day! Plan a hangout poolside with popsicles and pool floaties. And this lush floral crown? Perfect for adorning the queen of the party.
Brunch In Paris
Does your bride love to travel? If actually traveling to Europe is out of the scope of possibility, bring the Paris to her! Dress up this Brunch In Paris themed get-together with some scrumptious macarons and gorgeous spring blooms, and you’re good to go!
Whimsical & Free Spirited
Is the bride’s style a little more outgoing and free-spirited? What better than a unicorn themed event to celebrate her awesomeness?! Style the event with pastels, iridescent tassels, and some fun marble-textured balloons and snacks.
