Today we are so excited to share Lauren and Gabby’s whimsical fiesta wedding! You may remember them from thier super romantical (<— yes, we think romantical is a word) engagement shoot in San Diego! This wedding was definitely a passion project for the YJ team since the bride is the twin sister and best friend of our owners! The bride and groom made us swear to hand over the reins of the day of coordination to the rest of our staff and enjoy the wedding as maid of honor and guest. Since we have an amazing staff, we knew we had nothing to worry about! The lavender and gold wedding took place at Troon North on a gorgeous Sunday in February.
The day featured so many little personalizations that reflected the couple’s story and interests. The groom’s boutonniere had a little golf tee in it, for his love of golf. His watch was inscribed with the wedding date and the words, “I choose you” the title of a Sara Bareilles song that also served as their first dance.
Thier first look was followed by the bridesmaids presenting the couple with the gift of videography by the fabulous Carly G Weddings! Don’t miss the highlight video at the end of this post!
The ceremony took place on the lawn, beautiful purple cactus perfectly matched the days colors. Beautiful vintage doors adorned with a gold G and florals provided the entryway for the bridal party before the walked down an aisle flanked by rose petals. upon each chair was a lavender maracha. Guests were asked to shake it at the kiss. At the altar, a wine barrel served as a table, and a reminder of the couples surprise engagement party held at a winery in California. Immediately following the ceremony the guests were led by mariachi band to cocktail hour where another surprise was waiting for both the guests and the bride!
While the guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a breathtaking sunset from the terrace, the couple went off into the desert for some stunning portraits. After the ceremony, the bride ditched her veil for a beautiful flower crown by Prim Florals.
The bride was thrilled to see Mija, the beer burro as she walked into cocktail hour- a surprise from the bride’s mother.
The reception, held in the Troon North ballroom was bursting with details, from personalized thank you notes and glittery unicorns to multiple centerpiece designs and a gobo that matched the couples invitation suite. Lanterns with floral accents, glistening candles and petals sat atop half the tables while others included a tall floral centerpiece with mercury glass and gold accents. Guests found their seats thanks to gold glitter unicorns with their names on it- a nod to the brides unicorn obsession. Atop gold chargers, a custom thank you note was waiting for each guest. The bride and groom sat upon a loveseat at a sweetheart table decorated with greenery, florals and lanterns from Prim Unique Rentals.
In lieu of a traditional guest book, the couple asked guests to sign a globe. Unique details filled the event, including a “best day ever” cake topper, custom love story signage and a favor popcorn bar. There was certainly no shortage of dancing and fun.
Lauren and Gabby, thank you so much for letting us help plan your wedding day! It was such an honor to be a part of the whole process and then get to enjoy all the little details as guests/ your maid of honor. While we genuinely love every wedding we work on, yours will forever hold a special place in our hearts!
