Last weekend I got the opportunity to attend the BASH conference at the Wigwam Resort here in Arizona. Party and event planners and bloggers came together to learn, share and create. We talked about everything from accounting to collaborations to utilizing YouTube to how to decorate cookies like dessert bar designers to the stars, Amy Atlas and Jenny Keller. I got to meet designers from across the country, talk about their inspiration and draw some of my own! To finish off the weekend we competed in a tabletop competition judged by Eddie Ross, East Coast Editor for Better Homes and Gardens, Jennifer Sbranti, Co-founder and editor in chief of Hostess With The Mostess, and Kim Stoegbauer owner and stylist of The TomKat Studio. Here is a recap of some of the highlights!
The weekend kicked off with a welcome to Arizona party. Most of the attendees were from out of town and couldn’t stop raving about our beautiful January weather and it was a gorgeous weekend. Everyone displayed their own business cards for a competition that would take place later that weekend. There were some really creative ideas!
At the party we mingled, played casino games and crafted mousepads, decorative tiles, state name tags, and scented bath salts. Petite Party Studio put together this swoon-worthy Arizona table where we made adorable name tags. Paging Super Mom helped us to create citrus scented bath salts.
Each morning began with Coffee Talk. The incredible speakers included with Chris Nease of Celebrations at Home, Jennifer Sbranti of Hostess with the Mostess, and Kim Byers of The Celebration Shoppe, Kelly Lydon of The Party Dress, Kim Stroegbauer of The TomKat Studio and Tory Tait of Thoughtfully Simple. They shared stories of how they got to where they are, biggest ah-ha moments and who and what inspires them. We even got to design coffee mugs while we enjoyed breakfast.
The days were filled with educational sessions taught by event and design innovators. We learned about collaborative branding from Alison Faulkner of The Alison Show, Party and Food Styling with the hilarious gals of Anders Ruff, how to expand our brand into video from Matt Cherry of Iblog Magazine, the dessert table styling tricks of Amy Atlas, how to decorate cookies just like designer to the stars, Jenny Keller of Jenny Cookies and so much more!
On the last night, keynote speaker Eddie Ross shared how he creates incredible tablescapes by drawing from the environment and using textures and prints you might not ordinarily put together. He was even kind enough to take a picture with me and the table designed by Your Jubilee. Don’t worry, we’ll be sharing more details and pictures from the table top competition very soon!
We were so thrilled to be a part of this conference and excited to meet so many like-minded creative entrepreneurs and event planning icons! We are already working on incorporating much of what we learned to help Your Jubilee become the creative styling powerhouse we want it to be. Maybe one day you’ll see us speaking at a conference near you!
Remember, life should be celebrated, and we want to help make that celebration epic! Take advantage of all this fresh inspiration and book your free initial consultation!
