Yes, your wedding day is one the biggest events of your life, but it is also a very special day for both your mom, and mother in law. Here are a few special ways to make sure that these women feel important and involved in your best day ever!
An excellent way to include your mom in wedding festivities is to have her help you pick out your wedding dress. This is a very intimate, happy, and emotional time when a bride finds her dress! There is no one better to have by your side as you are picking out THE dress you will say “I Do” in. This will make mom feel extra special. Also, make sure to take the time to find your mom a beautiful outfit. It is important that she is feeling beautiful on your wedding day as well.
As an alternative, you can also find a way to include your mothers wedding dress into your wedding day attire. One of our YJ brides had the overlay of her dress made from her mother’s veil. Another bride wore her grandmothers wedding dress, a short 50’s style dress, for the rehearsal.
Having in-laws is an adjustment and you’ll want to make sure that they don’t feel left out during the planning process, especially if they live in a different city or state. At some point during the wedding planning process, grab lunch with your fiances mom, go shopping with her for her wedding dress, buy her a meaningful gift and go over wedding details with her to make sure she feels included. These little things will mean a whole lot to her as you tie the knot!
Always make sure your mom’s know how much you love and appreciate them throughout the entire planning process, and especially on your wedding day. This is one of the happiest days of their lives as well. Mom’s want to see their children find love and happiness, but they want to still feel important to their babies!
Always Jess
