In this episode, we are talking with one of our friends from the Arizona Wedding industry, Melissa Duerr! Melissa is the owner of Melissa Ivy Photography. Not only is she an amazing photographer, but she is also a mama bear to the Duerr household and she is doing something extra special, adopting a child! Melissa has always had a heart for adoption and we’re so excited for her! Let’s get into it!
First of all, we know Melissa as an incredible photographer who captures the genuine love of her clients. We love working by her side on wedding days and are always thrilled to have her on the vendor team. She is genuine, fun, and loves to dance. Her energy on a wedding day is unmatched!
Adopting has been on Melissa and her husband’s hearts since their college years. Melissa’s childhood neighborhood was home to a group home where she met many incredible children in the foster system and it became her first experience in the adoption world. In college, Josh and Melissa’s pastor was in the process of adoption and sparked their conversations about adoption. Since then, it has been set in their hearts.
This journey is completely unknown, completely unpredictable, and has the potential to be bumpy. They could have a baby as quickly as in a couple months or it could take some time. While they have finished a lot of the initial process of adoption, there is still so much more work to be done. Melissa and Josh are presenting their family to expectant moms and essentially just waiting until they find the perfect match.
