Hayley here!
It’s not a secret that losing weight can be very difficult. Getting to the gym and eating healthy, amidst living your busy day-to-day lives, is next to impossible. But never fear! We’ve come up with a special list of tips and tricks in which you will find no workout or diet guides. The following covers 5 simple lifestyle changes you can make that will aid in your weight loss journey.
#1 – Take a HOT bath
Sitting in a bubble bath? That’s my kind of workout! Recent studies have shown that sitting in a hot bath for an hour can burn up to 140 calories. While you can certainly burn more cals at the gym, this technique may suffice if you are having a lazy day or just need to relax for a bit. I wouldn’t recommend cancelling your gym membership just yet, but it’s always nice to know you have options.
#2 – Apple Cider Vinegar
No, we aren’t telling you to drink a bunch of vinegar to lose weight. However, in small amounts, apple cider vinegar has been shown to increase metabolic function, lower blood sugar, reduce fat storage and burn fat. Although all of these wonderful stats makes apple cider vinegar sound like some magic potion, the effects are not immediate. You will have to consume about a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar each day for a few months to see results. If drinking vinegar straight up isn’t your thing, incorporate it into your fave salad dressing.
#3 – Eliminate Electronics While Eating
In this day and age we are constantly surrounded by electronics. And don’t get me wrong, I love my iPhone just as much as the next person. But there is a time and place for electronic use, and during meal time is not it, especially if you are trying to shed some pounds. When eating, our attention should be on the food and the point at which we feel full. When our attention is focused on something else, like a TV, phone, or book while eating, we are much more likely to overeat than if there was no distraction. Overeating leads to higher caloric intake and a greater tendency to overeat in the future. All in all, distracted eating is a downward spiral that will crush your weight loss dreams.
#4 – Brush Your Teeth After Meals
How many of you have ever eaten something right after brushing your teeth? Well, if you have, you definitely remember that awful taste. If you haven’t, I would just insist that you trust me on this one. It seems as though the taste of toothpaste doesn’t go well with any type of food. Brushing your teeth after finishing your meals will make you less likely to snack between those meals. I love this method because it is such a simple, straight forward approach to deter you from snacking. Plus, you know you will getting the highest of praise from your dentist at your next check-up!
#5 – Acupuncture
For those of you that know me, I am the last person to advocate for needles. They terrify me. However, the triggering of specific pressure points, through the use of acupuncture, has proven to be very beneficial for the digestive system. After partaking in acupuncture, many have experienced a curbed appetite, a boosted metabolism, less cravings and improved digestive function. All of these benefits highly increase your weight loss potential. If you have never had acupuncture done before, it may seem scary. However, from what I’ve read, many people find it very calming and relaxing.
I hope these tips taught you a little something about weight loss and how our bodies work. I urge you to try out these methods and shoot us a comment about what worked for you and what didn’t. We always love to hear from you. Until next time…
Love always,
Hayley
